A corruption crusader, a convicted criminal, even a cleaner — Ian Macdonald has been known as several things in the past 20 years.
As a newly elected MLC in New South Wales, Macdonald’s first words to Parliament were in support of the establishment of an anti-corruption body.
Today, some two decades later, Macdonald was jailed for 10 years for misconduct in a public office.
In June 1988, Macdonald chose as the subject of his maiden speech the then Liberal Government’s bill to establish the Independent Commission Against Corruption.
