Ex-Detroit principal uses Robin Hood defense at corruption sentencing

DETROIT, MI — The ex-principal held wadded tissue in her left hand as she bent over to kiss and hug teachers, friends, relatives and a priest before learning she’ll spend two years in prison for accepting bribes. “This wasn’t part of the five-year plan,” 51-year-old Josette Buendia, the ex-principal of Bennett Elementary in Detroit, told one supporter before taking her seat at the defense table.
